Scanner, tray & labels

The barcode scanner, the header tray (scanned, reserved, cart, label queue) and keyboard shortcuts.

USB barcode scanners#

A scanner is a keyboard that types very fast. Lapitap recognises a fast burst of at least 3 characters ending in Enter as a scan, anywhere in the app — except while you are typing in a text box.

Where What a scan does
Any page Looks the code up as a Product ID. Found → added to the scanned products tray. Not found → a red message CODE - Product not found that stays on screen for 5 minutes so floor staff notice
Sale form Adds the laptop to the invoice. Refused with a message if the code is unknown, not a laptop, not Available, or already in the cart
Scan Stock Marks the row as verified
Move Laptops Adds the laptop to the move list

Search boxes on barcode screens pause the global scanner while focused so a scan lands in the box.

Header tray#

Header tray — the label-queue printer icon appears after you use Queue Barcode

Folder-lock Any laptop is Reserved The reserved products panel
QR code You have scanned codes The scanned products panel (opens by itself after a scan)
Shopping cart The cart has laptops The cart list; each entry opens the sales page with the invoice form. Clear Cart empties it

Scanned products panel#

Each scanned laptop shows processor, storage, graphics card, display and the bargain price, with actions based on its status:

Status Buttons
Moved Received Product (→ Available) · Cancel (→ Ready)
Available Reserve This Product — pick the customer to reserve for
Reserved Remove from Reserved (→ Available)

Clear Scanned Products empties the panel; Esc hides it.

Reserved products panel#

A slide-over listing every reserved laptop with its specs, price, customer and reservation date.

Barcode labels#

Queue Barcode on a laptop row adds its label to the queue; the printer icon then prints one 1.5″ × 1″ label per page with a CODE 128 barcode of the Product ID, and the queue clears itself afterwards. Use a label printer set to that size.

Keyboard#
