v2 Boson/Getting started
What is new in v2
The main differences from v1.
v2 does everything v1 does — stock, sales, purchasing, accounting, reports, backups and updates — on a new foundation, with a few deliberate improvements.
Highlights#
- Workshops. Adding a laptop, creating a sale or purchase, collecting a payment and processing a return each open a full page: an information card on the left, the form on the right.
- List and Box views. Laptop lists switch between rows and a card grid.
- Named permissions. Roles hold keys such as
sales.createorsystem.updates.manage. The server checks every request; the screens only hide what you cannot use. - Counter workflow. The scan tray in the top bar keeps scanned codes, reserved products, the sale cart and notices while you move between pages.
- Buy-Ins and Sourced Items. Walk-in laptop purchases (CNIC required) and items bought from an outside shop for a customer, each posting straight to the books.
- One currency per installation, chosen once by an administrator.
- Safe multi-step saves. A sale, payment or return either completes fully or changes nothing; journals always balance.
- Invoice numbers never clash. If two counters create an invoice in the same moment, the second automatically takes the next free number.
Product line#
v2 installations receive only 2.x.y releases from their own update feed. Installing and rolling back need system.updates.manage; every signed-in user can see the version and check for an update.
IMPORTANT
There is no upgrade or data migration from v1 to v2. A shop that wants v2 gets a fresh installation with its own licence. See the v1 product line rules.
