v2 Boson/Sales

Returns, credit notes and refunds

Customer returns, credit notes, refunds and warranty claims; vendor returns and debit notes.

All four return flows use the same Return workshop: pick the party, then the invoice, then the quantities to return. Only lines still returnable are offered.

Customer side#

Flow Use it when Result
Credit note — Return Goods come back and the customer keeps the value as credit Stock returns; a credit note to spend on a later payment
Credit note — Warranty claim You owe the customer for warranty items on a fully settled invoice A credit note, no stock movement
Sale refund Goods come back and you pay money back Stock returns; cash goes out from the chosen payment method (or the balance is reduced when nothing was paid)

Credit notes are applied when collecting a payment.

Vendor side#

Flow Use it when Result
Debit note You return goods to a vendor (or claim warranty) and keep the value as credit A debit note to apply on a later vendor payment
Purchase return You return goods and the vendor pays you back Stock leaves; money comes in

Returned laptops and parts move to stock or out of it automatically, and every flow posts its journal. A return can be cancelled, which reverses it.
